Think about how you take a screenshot on Windows. There is a much easier way to capture, edit, and save a screenshot using the Windows 11 Snipping Tool.<\/p>\n

\"Capture<\/p>\n

Follow these steps to activate it.<\/p>\n

1. Use the Windows logo key + Shift + S<\/strong> keyboard shortcut to activate the Windows 11 Snipping Tool.
\n2. Pick a Rectangular<\/strong>, Freeform<\/strong>, Windows<\/strong> or Fullscreen<\/strong> snip option.
\n3. Edit the screenshot how you want using the features and tools within the app.
\n4. Click the Save<\/strong> icon in the upper right, pick a folder and a file format (PNG, JPG, or GIF) to save your work.<\/p>\n

Launch Windows 11 Snipping tool with a keyboard\u00a0shortcut<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In order to open the Snipping Tool, press the Windows logo key + Shift + S<\/strong> keyboard shortcut<\/a> on your keyboard.<\/p>\n

Once you perform the keyboard shortcut, your desktop screen will darken, which indicates the Snipping Tool is open and active. At the top of the screen, you will see five icons.<\/p>\n

  1. Rectangular snip<\/strong>: capture a rectangular area on your Windows 11 desktop.<\/li>\n
  2. Free-form snip<\/strong>: capture a free-form, custom-shaped screenshot on your desktop.<\/li>\n
  3. Windows snip<\/strong>: capture a specific window on your desktop.<\/li>\n
  4. Fullscreen snip<\/strong>: Capture a screenshot of your entire desktop.<\/li>\n
  5. Close snipping<\/strong>: Pick this option to close the tool.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    If you want to use the Print screen button to capture screenshots, here\u2019s what you need to do.<\/p>\n

    1. Go to the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and click Settings<\/strong>. You can also change settings for the Snipping Tool as well, including whether to auto copy content to the clipboard, save snips, open each snip in a new window, or use an outline around your snips. \"Capture<\/li>\n
    2. Under On-screen keyboard, access keys, and Print screen<\/strong> turn the Use the Print screen button to open screen snipping<\/strong> switch to the ON<\/strong> position to use the Print screen button as a keyboard shortcut to activate the Windows 11 Snipping Tool.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Snipping Tool keyboard shortcuts<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      Here are a few keyboard shortcuts you can use once the Snipping Tool is activated:<\/p>\n

      1. Ctrl + N<\/strong>: Take a new screenshot.<\/li>\n
      2. Ctrl + S<\/strong>: Save your current screenshot in your preferred location or folder and in your preferred file format.<\/li>\n
      3. Ctrl + C<\/strong>: Copies your current screenshot to the clipboard.<\/li>\n
      4. Ctrl + P<\/strong>: Print your screenshot.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Sniping Tool features and\u00a0options<\/strong><\/h2>\n
          \n
        1. In the app at the top, you can capture a new screenshot using the \u201c+ New<\/strong>\u201d button. You also have options to delay the snipping time. This can be used to Snip in 3, 5, 10 seconds, <\/strong>or No delay<\/strong> after clicking the + New<\/strong> button. \"Capture<\/li>\n
        2. In the middle (from left to right), you can annotate<\/strong>, highlight<\/strong>, or erase<\/strong> content on your screenshot. If you need to make measurements on your screenshot, you can use a protractor<\/strong> or ruler<\/strong>, or optimize your screen shot so you can use your finger for touch<\/strong> writing. Image crop<\/strong> is available if you need to crop your screenshot, and undo<\/strong> and redo<\/strong> arrow buttons are also available if you make a mistake. \"Capture<\/li>\n
        3. At the right corner, you can access the magnifier to Zoom<\/strong> in and out of your screenshot. You can also Save<\/strong>, Copy<\/strong>, and Share<\/strong> your screenshot creation. If you click the three-dot menu, you can choose to Open a file<\/strong> in the Windows 11 Snipping Tool or use you can use Open with<\/strong> to open your screenshot in another program located on your PC. \"Capture<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Print<\/strong>, Send feedback<\/strong>, Settings<\/strong>, and Tips & Tricks<\/strong> are also available if you want to use your mouse to click through the menu instead of using keyboard shortcuts.<\/p>\n
